What is Counselor-Student Confidentiality? Why?

Confidentiality is the protection of personal information. Confidentiality means keeping a student's information between counselor and the student, and not telling others including co-workers, friends, family, etc. Confidentiality is an important part of the counselor - student relationship. There are 3 exceptions to confidentiality.
