Links are BLOCKED that are on the school website and/or Google Classrooms.
You must be logged on to HCS and Google for full access!
Are you finding that sometimes you are blocked from links on our website or links from your Google Classroom. Most likely it is because you are NOT logged in to Google with our school credentials. Links to YouTube are one of the most often reported problems. Here is the procedure to make sure you are always logged on to both accounts, ALL the time!

Solutions for some Common Issues
Students should do a complete shut down at least once every one to two weeks.
Here are some solutions to common issues.
Rotate Screen
Simply hit ctrl+shift+refresh. The refresh key is the one with the spinning arrow. It will rotate the screen 90 degrees. You need to press CTRL + ALT and arrow button on your computer then it will make your screen default.
Move Taskbar
On your home screen, right click by tapping two fingers on the trackpad. A pop-up box should appear where you can choose a right, left, or bottom position for your taskbar.
Zoom in or magnify your Chromebook screen
To see items on your Chromebook screen better, you can zoom in, magnify, or change your screen resolution.
To make everything on your screen bigger, change your screen resolution. To make your web page bigger, but keep other things on the page the same size, use zoom.
Make everything on your screen bigger or smaller
To make everything on your screen bigger or smaller (including your desktop icons and cursor), change your Chromebook screen resolution:
- Make things bigger (decrease resolution): Press Ctrl + Shift and +.
- Make things smaller (increase resolution): Press Ctrl + Shift and -.
- Reset resolution: Press Ctrl + Shift + 0.
Make a specific page bigger or smaller
To make the page you're looking at bigger or smaller, but keep other parts of your screen the same size:
- Zoom in (make things bigger): Press Ctrl and +.
- Zoom out (make things smaller): Press Ctrl and -.
- Reset zoom: Press Ctrl + 0.
Reset your keyboard to correct chartacters
Go to the taskbar on the bottom right. Click on keyboard language. Change to US keyboard language.

Quickest fix for resolution issues is Ctrl + Shift + 0
Resolution Issues
Have students log out of testing screen
Have him log in, pull up the bar at the bottom of the screen to find settings
Go to displays
Using bar on displays page slide to 100%
Map Testing Issues
Not supported - sometimes if a student does a complete shut down when the computer comes back on it will work. Completely shutting down Chromebook allows for the device to update and sync almost immediately.

Replacing missing/damaged adapters and Always-On Cases
REPLACING MISSING/DAMAGED ADAPTERS AND ALWAYS-ON CASES
Lost, stolen, and/or damaged power adapters and always-on cases are not covered by the technology protection plan. These items may be purchased on My School Bucks. The power adapter is $20 and the always-on case is $16. Replacement items purchased on My Schools Bucks will be shipped to the appropriate schools within seven to 10 business days. Students and parents may make these purchases as needed without notifying the school technician and/or Instructional Technology Paraprofessionals.

FAQs
Q1: Is my student’s charger/adapter or case covered by the HCS Technology Protection Plan?
A1: No. The HCS Technology Protection Plan only covers the Chromebook device. This plan does not cover damaged, lost and/or stolen power adapters and always‐on cases.
Q2: Is it possible to track my student’s lost charger?
A2: No. Only the Chromebook device itself can be tracked.
Q3: What should I do if my student’s charger/adapter is damaged, lost and/or stolen or their case is damaged?
A3: Replacements for these items may be purchased on My School Bucks by logging onto www.MySchoolBucks.com.
