     Mrs. Collier

    Welcome to my science classroom!

I am entering into my 15th year of teaching (all in Henry County) for the 2019-2020 school year.  I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education in 2005 from Clayton College & State University. I immediately began my teaching career at Eagle's Landing Middle School where I taught a mixture of science, social studies, and gifted courses for 10 years before deciding to move to Locust Grove Middle School where they were engaging in personalized learning for students.  This will be my 5th year at Locust Grove.  Over the past four years at LGMS, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade grade science, and I have TRULY enjoyed it.  I love science and I love a good challenge!  As a result, I am looking forward to branching out further and helping students from all three grade levels develop a passion for science and STEM related careers.

In the years since I obtained my teaching degree, I aquired my Master of Science in Post Secondary Education from Troy University in 2007 and my Specialist in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University in 2016.  I truly am a life-long learner, and I do my best to instill a passion for learning and a LOVE for science into my students.  I believe all students CAN and WILL learn but that they all do so only when learning is relevant and meaningful.  This is why I truly believe in personalized learning.  It gives students the opportunity to learn in their own way and in their own time all while having input into the learning activities they engage in each day.

My husband, Kevin, and I live in McDonough with our two boys, Gavin (12) and Liam (10) and our pets.

I am so excited to start this school year with you.  Please feel free to contact me at any time.
