                                                     Who Am I?

Let me take the time to introduce myself.  I originally moved here from a small town called Newton in Mississippi.  I moved to Georgia in order to advance my career and offer more opportunities for my children.  Speaking of children, I have seven people that call me "Mama"!  My children are named Jemechia, Jamad, Jayland, Janyla, Jashua, Julyet, and Jaxon.  I guess you can say I love "J's".  Well, now that you are aware of my family, I must find a way to let you know more about who I am.

I am an alumni to Mississippi State University where I completed my Bachelor's in Elementary Education, Master's in Elementary Education, and Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership. This contributes to my status of being highly qualified as an educator. This begins my 16th year in education of which I will be serving as an EIP Teacher and MTSS Co-Chairperson. Previously, I served as a HEART Mentor teacher, Fourth Grade Lead Mentor for intern teachers and grade level chair. I recently completed the Reading Endorsement and the 2022-2023 Aspire Leadership Cohort. I recently served as an EIP teacher for 4th grade and 5th grade for a combined 4 years. I have taught grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th, of which my background reflects middle and elementary school settings. My experiences at both levels have contributed to my building the foundations of a strong desire to continue to reach and inspire the students, parents, and other teachers I encounter.  I am passionate about my profession and I love the fact that I was chosen to impart information into the minds of students! I previously served as a Social Studies Content Lead for OKE for 7 years. I am an Innovation Champion for Technology, Nearpod Certified Educator, and DEN STAR for Discovery Education. I have facilitated professional learning at the school, district, and state level. I have also served as the School Level Behavior Support person at my previous building. In addition to the mentioned credentials, I have my Educational Leadership Tier II Certification, Coaching Endorsement, Elementary Ed P-5, K-5 Mathematics Endorsement, and MTSS Facilitator Endorsement as areas of specialization on my certificate.

My dedication is evident in the way I utilize instructional practices and continue to pursue professional opportunities to increase my own knowledge and understanding of educational demands. The students and my coworkers know that I care and that is one of the main reasons that we are able to achieve academic success.  I hope you have enjoyed my brief introduction and I look forward to a great year of success!  I am blessed to be a member of Pleasant Grove Elementary and I take pleasure in seeing and helping all children become successful.  We must work together and collaborate as teachers, administrative staff, parents, and community to continue to nurture small minds!
