    Purpose—Improve achievement levels of students and to serve as communications link between and among the various constituencies of the community and the school.

    Responsibilities—Provide advice and recommendations to the school principal and, where appropriate, to the Board on any matter, including those enumerated by the law.

    Scope of Responsibilities:

    • School calendar
    • School codes for conduct and dress
    • Curriculum, program goals, and priorities
    • Accountability issues
    • School profile of academic performance, progress, and other data deemed appropriate
    • Review applications if principal vacancy occurs
    • Review school budget
    • School-community communication strategies
    • Reporting to parents and community other than through school profile
    • Extracurricular activities
    • School-based and community services
    • Use of facilities
    • Recommendations concerning school board policies
    • Review reports from principal regarding progress toward student achievement goals
    • Review early intervention services
