Dutchtown Middle School Receives Platinum Award (January, 2012)

DMS was awarded the highest honor, from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement, for making great gains on state assessments under the Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS). The minimum requirements include: making AYP for 3 consecutive years, >35% of students exceeding standards, 98th percentile of greatest gains, using the results of the most recent two years of the CRCT.  The Governor's Office issued a press release last week and will provide a banner for the school. DMS was the only middle school in Henry County to receive this award. Dr. McCray is indeed proud of the school's accomplishment and credits the teachers and students for this success!

Under SSAS, the Governor's Office of Student Achievement awards schools that show excellence in student achievement and/or progress in student achievement. Award-winning schools must meet the following criteria, which are based on the results of the most recent two years of Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) (grades 3-8 in reading, English/language arts, math, social studies, and science) and/or the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) (grade 11 first time test takers - English/language arts, math, science, and social studies). Criteria are based on Full Academic Year (FAY) students. Both the CRCT and the GHSGT classify achievement in terms of the percent of students who a) do not meet standards, b) meet standards, and c) exceed standards.
