Georgia’s High School Graduation Requirements

These new requirements pertain only to students who enter the ninth grade for the first time in 2008-2009 and subsequent school years. 

∙ 4 units of English/Language Arts

∙ 4 units of Mathematics

∙ 4 units of Science

∙ 3 units of Social Studies

∙ 3 units required from: CTAE*, Foreign Language, and/or Fine Arts for all students

∙ At least 4 additional electives

∙ 1 health/physical education course

Students planning to enter or transfer into a University System of Georgia institution or other post-secondary institution must take two units of the same foreign language.
