A Georgia native Mr. Herman lived in Illinois from 2016-2023. While living in Illinois, Mr. Herman performed in various community music ensembles, including those at DePaul University and Horner Park, as well as in improv and musical improv shows at the IO Theater in Chicago. He received his Masters (MME) from the University of Illinois and his Bachelors (BME) from Valdosta State University of Illinois. His master's work focused on exploring film and film music as well as school financing.
Mr. Herman considers his primary instruments the computer and the electric trombone. He has worked as a Location Sound Recordist for directors like Matt Green who was the special effects team lead for seasons 4 & 5 of MacGyver. Mr. Herman is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). He is currently finishing post production sound for two short films. While at UIUC, he worked with the Hip-Hop Collective as a recording and mastering engineer on their first two albums.
One of Mr. Herman's goals as an educator and music advocate is to spark curiosity and fuel creativity in the minds of students. He strives to create a safe, fun and friendly environment so students can do just that. Mr. Herman struggled as a middle school student in his father’s band class. Having Tourette’s Syndrome and ADHD made middle school ever harder. He counts himself lucky to have music as an outlet. Mr. Herman hopes that your student will look at learning as something fun and enjoyable, not a burden. We look forward to helping your scholars in any way we can.
