What is the School Parent Compact?
An agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together that explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all of our students reach grade level standards.
Teachers
Explain school learning goals and suggest home learning strategies
Parents
Add ideas to make strategies more specific to individual student needs
Students
Identify and express which strategies are most effective in helping them learn
PGE’s Compact describes how teachers will use high quality instruction to help students develop their academic skills. It also explains how teachers and parents will communicate about school progress, as well as offer opportunities for parents to volunteer, observe, and participate in the classroom! Finally teachers, parents, and students will share strategies that can be used to support academic growth!

In the Classroom
Teachers
As Teachers we will work with our parents and students to support individual student academic growth. This year we will:
- Use HMH (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) textbooks and digital instructional resources, Open Court reading materials, and Triumph Learning resources to instruct students in Math, ELA and Science
- Focus on guided reading and small group instruction
- Pay attention to testing data and grades to make informed decisions about instruction for each child
- Collaboratively plan to ensure correct Literacy and Math strategies are in place
- Communicate with parents via ClassDojo, email, and/or phone call, concerning their child’s progress
- Invite parents to attend periodic parent-teacher conferences to review academic growth
- Send home communication and invitations to parents to attend workshops and conferences at PGE
At Home
Parents
As parents, we will develop and share ideas about how families can support student success. At home, we will also support PGE’s Academic goals in ELA, Math, and Science by:
- Reading together and working on alphabet sounds, phonics, and writing
- Studying math facts and word problems to assist with math fluency
- Checking my child’s folder every night for homework, flyers, and notes from school
- Helping my child complete their homework
- Maintain consistent communication with my child’s teacher and attend parent-teacher conferences to follow their academic progress
- Check out learning materials from the FRC (Rm #210) to support growth at home
- Attend events at PGE that support learning and academic growth
In the Classroom & At Home
Students
Things we, as students, can do succeed and excel in math, reading, writing, and science:
K-2 graders work on phonics and reading
3-5 graders will study math facts during homework time.
Talk to parents about what I learned in class
Finish my homework and turn it in on time!
Make sure parents look at my agenda/folder every night to see letters, flyers and notes from school.
