    Dear parents and guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Onekia Walden and I will be your child's STEM Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

About Me: I grew up in the great Sunshine State of Miami, Florida with my three older brothers. I have 4 kids (3 boys, all Navy)/ 1 girl & 5 grandchildren (3 girls & 2 boys).

Education/Experience: I received my undergraduate degree from Florida Memorial College and My Master's degree from Nova Southeastern University. This will be my 11th year teaching at Red Oak Elementary. Before Red Oak, I taught for 20 years in Miami. This will be my 32nd year of teaching.

Hobbies: Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, traveling, exercising a little and riding on the back of my husband's Goldwing.

I believe in a learning environment in which students feel comfortable, where expectations and rules are consistent and clear. It is important to me that students feel safe and comfortable enough to ask questions and be themselves. I also believe that all children can and will learn. Students learn through many different learning styles, and it is very important to me that I teach using many different methods to reach all students. I let students know that I want them to do their PERSONAL BEST! Celebrating success (big or small) along the way as a community of learners is something that is very important. If, at any time, you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school at 770-389-1464 or email me at Onekia.Walden@henry.k12.ga.us

    Sincerely,

    Mrs.  Onekia Walden
