Mrs. Ashley Barnes
Welcome!
I am so excited to learn and grow with your little one this year! I'm a 1st grade teacher and I am so glad to join the Flippen family!. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Georgia in July of 2022. Outside of school, I enjoy singing, shopping, and making lifelong memories with my family and friends. My husband, Jeremiah and I live in McDonough with our daughters, Zion and Zoie.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Illlinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2016. After graduating, I started my teaching career in daycare, teaching littles from infants to 2 years old. In 2019, I became a first grade teacher at Sheridan Elementary in Bloomington, IL and taught there for 3 years before relocating to Georgia.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe every child deserves a learning atmosphere where they grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Students deserve a learning environment where they are encouraged to work collaboratively, think critically, and develop a love for learning. I want our students to develop positive self-efficacy and promote self-advocacy, which are essential in becoming a productive citizen. I look to mold life-long learners and future scholars.
