• Erik Payton is a highly skilled and versatile music educator with a wealth of experience in teaching various instruments, including Winds, Strings, Percussion, Vocals, and Piano. Throughout his academic journey, he actively participated in a wide range of ensembles, such as the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band (on multiple instruments), Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble, Marching Band, Choir, and excelled as a soloist and accompanist on the piano.

    His passion for music education was ignited during his training under esteemed educators Dr. Byrd and Dr. Gibson at UWG. Their mentorship inspired him to guide his students in expressing themselves through the language of music. Erik's dedication to his craft led him to perform for numerous foundations during his time at the University of West Georgia, where he held the principal trombone chair throughout his degree.

    Erik graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music Education, holding a Georgia Professional Standards Commission Educator's Certificate, further solidifying his commitment to teaching. His thirst for knowledge also led him to study Music Education courses with the Salvation Army, where he received recognition for his achievements at the Territorial Music Institute.

    With expertise extending beyond the trombone, Erik is well-versed in piano pedagogy, making him an excellent guide for aspiring pianists. His true passion lies in helping young musicians discover their love for music, whether it's through performing, listening, composing, or conducting. As an educator in Henry County Schools, Erik brings his wealth of experience as a Choir Director and Piano teacher to inspire and engage his students in every lesson, fostering a deep appreciation for the art of music.
