I am so excited to be at Hampton High School and I am looking forward to an awesome year. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Erica O'Neal and I grew up on a farm in Barnesville, Ga. I graduated Salutatorian from Lamar County High School and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia.  At the University of Georgia, I earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education, which certified me to teach grades 6-12. I am AP Statistics Certified, CPR Certified, and I have recently obtained a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction K-12.

I taught at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, Georgia for 7 years. While at Cedar Shoals, I was a teacher leader and Freshman Academy Team Leader/Coordinator. Throughout my years of experience, I have taught Algebra I, Trigonometry, Math I-III, Coordinate Algebra, and AP Statistics. However, this will be my first year at Hampton High School and I will be teaching Coordinate Algebra, Statistical Reasoning, and AP Statistics this year on the 90/90 block schedule. Also, I will be the Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach. I have been playing tennis for 18 years, coaching tennis 9 years, and currently playing on two USTA league teams.

I am very passionate about teaching mathematics to students and building relationships with the entire school community. I want to improve student achievement in mathematics but I also want to change their thinking about math and inspire students to love mathematics. I am also passionate about music, playing instruments, singing and playing drums in church, playing tennis and coaching tennis, playing basketball, implementing and using technology daily, watching sports on TV, raising animals, going to theme parks, and spending time with my family.

I am at Hampton to make a positive impact on my students and motivate them to pursue future endeavors. I am a student advocate and I always put my students first. I will do all I can and whatever it takes to ensure success for each student and get them college and career ready. I am here to bring the best out of my students and inspire them to love coming to school each day.

This year is going to be a great year with our new initiative, personalized learning, where we are going to be student-centered and take our instruction outside of the walls in the classroom.
