Chad Ashley has been the Head Football Coach at Hampton since its inception in 2014. He helped lead Hampton to its first ever State Playoff berth in 2019. Previously, he served as the Head Football Coach at White Oak High School in Jacksonville, North Carolina. There, he rebuilt the football program with a focus on student-athlete accountability, strength and conditioning, and fundamental football. Ashley's two seasons at White Oak resulted in tremendous gains in the team's level of competitiveness, and a marked difference in the overall performance.
Prior to his tenure at White Oak, Coach Ashley spent a decade at powerhouse New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC. In his 10 years with New Hanover, Ashley spent the last five seasons as the Wildcats' defensive coordinator. New Hanover led the Mideastern Conference in defense in three of those five seasons and was second in 2009. Ashley's emphasis on discipline and citizenship were key to the turnaround of not only the football culture, but the school's culture overall.
Prior to joining the New Hanover staff, Coach Ashley spent one season at North Brunswick after a year at Windsor Forest High School in Savannah. He holds a master's degree in Sports Science and a bachelor's degree in Exercise/Health & Physical Education.
