Dr. Lydia Powell, Assistant Principal
Dr. Lydia Powell is proud to serve as Hampton High School’s assistant principal. She attended Florida A & M University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Education with a minor in Spanish; Florida State University where she earned a Master’s of Science in Emotional Disturbances and Learning Disabilities; and the University of Sarasota where she earned a Specialist and a Doctorate degree in educational leadership.
She began her career in Lee County, Florida where she served as a social studies, exceptional student educator, and cheer and step team coach. Since then Dr. Powell has served as a social studies teacher, administrator, and culture and inclusion trainer for decades in Georgia. Dr. Powell also serves as an adjunct professor in the area of educational leadership at Thomas University and owns a diversity consulting firm called Powell and Associates. This is her 25th year in public education.
Dr. Powell is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Jack and Jill of America Inc. She loves to travel, volunteer, read, and spend time with her family. One of her favorite quotes is “Education is the most powerful weapon you can utilize to transform the world.” Yes, the solution to any issue lies in education. - Nelson Mandela
