Welcome to Mrs. Hatcher’s class! We are so for summer break! Please find some summer resources that will help your student grow and challenge them over the summer!
It is so nice to meet you all, and I would like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Kimberly Hatcher and I am so happy to be returning to Locust Grove Elementary for the 2023-2024 school year. I joined the LGE Family in 2018. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Gordon State College and my Master’s Degree from Georgia Southern University. I live in Butts County with my husband, our daughter, Camden, and our dog, Piper. I enjoy baking cupcakes, traveling with my husband, and doing crafts! I am very excited for this year.
I always believe in having an open door policy, so I encourage you all make an appointment to visit, as we are striving for nothing but success. I believe that a lot of your child’s success comes from you, and because of that, I will assure that I will keep you posted on every aspect of this school year.
I will be using ClassDojo this school year to provide class news, updates on what we are learning, helpful websites, and more! If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me. You can call me at school at 770-957-5416. You can also contact me by email at Kimberly.hatcher@henry.k12.ga.us or by sending a note in your child’s notebook. This is going to be a fantastic year and I look forward to working with you and your child!
Supply List
Behavior
Excellent Wildcat behavior and study habits will be rewarded! Students will have the opportunity to earn their way into our four Wildcat Fests throughout the year. In order to attend the Wildcat Fest, students cannot receive a reflection during that 9 week period.
If a problem arises that requires your attention, we will notify you of the issue by phone. Most issues are addressed at school, but if a behavior is consistent or detrimental to learning you will be notified.
Classwork and Attendance
Students are expected to be in class everyday by 7:35am ready to start class. Any student who comes after 7:35am will be marked tardy. Attendance will be taken everyday. The doors at LGE will open at 7:10am each day for students, and breakfast will be provided until 7:30am.
Graded Work
Grades will be assigned to show mastery of standards or progress towards mastery of standards. Student progress will be evaluated based on standard-based assessments, performance tasks, classroom and homework assignments, tests and quizzes, and special projects. Students will earn both a percentage grade. Please refer to the Henry County School Handbook for additional information on the grading policy. Please also remember to check for graded assignments in the Tuesday folder each week to keep up with how your student is doing in class. Students will have a week to make up missing assignments. Missing work will become a zero after a week. If a student is absent, he or she will have the amount of days they are absent in addition to the week.
Class Pet
We will have a “class pet” that is a stuffed animal flamingo. This pet will have the opportunity to visit with a student and their family each weekend. Each student will have the opportunity to take the pet home throughout the school year. During the pet’s visit with your family, your student will journal a few things each day and draw a picture to go along with the exciting things that our pet was able to experience. Please help your student remember the pet is for everyone and it is important to keep it clean and safe.
Schedule
Dismissal/Transportation
Dismissal will be at 2:15 each day. If your student needs to attend after school care, please see Mr. Brown for the application. For car riders or daycare riders, please see the front office for tags. If the need to change transportation arises, please communicate these with a note explaining the new expectations with a copy of the parent/guardian’s ID.
Field Trips
We look forward to field trips throughout the year. Information will be provided in a timely manner about the upcoming field trips.
Visitors
Parents may eat lunch with their student only on the stage, and may bring outside food for their student. For birthday celebrations, you may purchase ice cream for the class from the school or provide individually wrapped edible items for each student. Cupcakes/Cakes and goody bags are not permitted.
