Hello and welcome to my page! For those of you who do not know me, my name is Cherri Patterson, and I am an educator here at Excel Academy. I have been married for 43 years and have thirteen grandchildren, nine boys and four girls and a great grandchild. I am originally from southern Oregon where rodeo, rafting, hiking, drama, music, and books defined my pre-adult existence. The majority of my adult life was spent raising our children and supporting my husband as he completed 28 years of service in the United States Army. Our lives were richly blessed by the cultural experiences afforded us at each duty station including a total of six years in Hawaii and three and one-half years in Germany.What experiences I have had! My nearly 30 years of teaching experience include time in Hawaii, Texas, Louisiana, Germany, and two years at the collegiate level at Northwestern State University (study skills, orientation, multi-cultural education, and first-year student U. S. history). As a DoDDs employee, I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in Harvard Model Congress (Paris) for the students at MAHS. While in Europe, I also taught English during one summer in the Czech Republic. OMG! What a tremendous experience. I began my Patrick Henry/EXCEL journey in October 2008.If you have never met me, there is one thing above all else that you should know about me, and it is that I believe that every human being has something important to say that is worth hearing. I am passionate about infusing students with a zeal to know about the world in which they live; it is my desire to see them flourish as productive, aware, and caring citizens in the world they are destined to influence.I am looking forward to working with you as your teacher this school year!
