Welcome to Excel Academy. 

I am Terrica Sloan, the middle school counselor at Excel Academy.  I am excited to be a part of the Student Support Team here at E.A.  I look forward to working with the students, staff, parents, and community. Having nineteen years in education and three as a school counselor, I’ve encountered a diverse student population whose learning and social functioning levels covered a wide spectrum. Managing the difference of abilities among my students proved to be a challenging but rewarding responsibility.  

My ability to relate and work well with children, parents, and staff has enabled me to grow and succeed as a counselor.  I hold a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling. These degrees provided me with the skills needed to guide, advise, consult, and assist with the concerns of students, parents, teachers, and the community. Knowing how to address the needs of students gives me the necessary tools to assist in building relationships, developing a comprehensive guidance program, as well as, providing guidance that promotes and enhances student achievement.

I am eager to provide students with a positive direction for their social, emotional, and academic well-being. I look forward to incorporating my knowledge, expertise, and experience to provide the best services possible to students, parents, and staff.
