Board of Education Elects Leadership for 2022
Cobb, Edwards to lead board for second year in a row
HENRY COUNTY, GA – The Henry County Board of Education took formal action during its first meeting of 2022 to re-elect District 3 Board Member Holly Cobb and District 5 Board Member Annette Edwards to the leadership roles of Board Chair and Board Vice-Chair, respectively.
Each calendar year, the board’s first official business is the election of its own members to serve as leaders for the 12-month cycle. Cobb and Edwards served in the same capacity during 2021 and were unanimously re-elected to serve once again.
Both Cobb and Edwards shared their appreciation for the nod to once again serve in their respective roles.
“I am grateful to my colleagues for their trust to lead this board and serve alongside them in providing the students and families of our community, along with our staff members, with an exceptional school district,” said Cobb.
Edwards added, “Being able to lead and serve on this board to ensure that we have the best schools in the state and nation is a tremendous honor, and something I don’t take lightly or for granted.”
Once the board chooses its chair and vice-chair, official business, including the regularly scheduled Study Session and Business Session meetings can continue.
Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis praised the leadership of the board’s chosen leaders and the cohesion of the entire board for the benefit of students and staff.
“Our unified governance team is truly an exemplar in the state for the shared commitment to a high-quality, exceptional education for students and a destination district for career education professionals and support staff,” stated Davis. “Their work is evident throughout the county and state and continues to be recognized through the numerous awards and recognitions they’ve earned.”
All meetings of the Henry County Board of Education are viewable by the public via livestream on the district website the second Monday of each month.
