Vision

It is my vision that all teachers at Oakland Elementary be able to engage students in a high quality math program that will help students develop a positive attitude towards math. Hence, effectively prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need to compete in the 21^st century marketplace.

Hello, my name is Roxann Nicole Evans and I am a proud wife, educator, aunt and friend. I am the youngest of eight siblings, and humbled to be a part of a great-close knitted family.

From a very early stage in my life, I knew and understood the importance of education, and throughout my life continued to embrace the belief that once you acquire an education it cannot be taken from you. This belief is still embedded in me today, and can be attributed to the people who were intent on impacting my life in a positive way. Of course, these people were my teachers! I looked up to them and admired every aspect of their lives; they were my role models.

I earned my Degree in Elementary Education at the Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica and taught at various grade levels throughout the Jamaican School System ranging from Grades K-6.

In August of 2008 when I decided to join my wonderful husband (my best cheerleader) in the United States, I also knew that I wanted to continue in the field of education, because I truly believe that this is my calling. In 2009, I landed a job in a private school where I taught grades 4-7 while attending evening classes at Mercer University situated in McDonough, Georgia. Upon completion of Mercer University I earned a B.S Degree in Early Childhood/Special Education. I later went on to earn a Masters Degree in Elementary Education, majoring in Reading and Mathematics K-6 at Walden University.  

 I have served students enrolled in the Early Intervention Program (EIP) here at Oakland Elementary and currently serve in the position as Math Instructional Lead Teacher (MILT). Math is my passion, and I will continue to encourage and engage teachers, and students to become even more excited about math.  I am looking forward to another great year filled with high expectations for both teachers and students.
