Mrs. Sabrina Wilburn Young

Hello,

My name is Sabrina Wilburn-Young, I have spent over 18 years in the classroom and have worked as a director/social worker, kindergarten / Special –Ed Paraprofessional, Pre-K assistant teacher,  Title 1 teacher, and 1st / 2nd / 4th grade Teacher. I have always been interested in finding ways to help children succeed in school. My search for knowledge to increase children learning has taken me places like California,Tennessee, and  Georgia.

In 1995, I first started taking early childhood development classes at Grossmont College in California, where I received my Child Development Associate. After finishing Grossmont college, I started my first job at Little People's Daycare as a director/social worker. In 2005, I moved to Georgia and began taking undergraduate early childhood development classes at DeKalb Technical College. While going to school, I obtained part-time employment at Treetop Learning Academy as a Pre-K assistant teacher.  After a year at Dekalb Technical College, I received my Para Professional certificate.

In 2006, I begin working at Clayton County Public School as a kindergarten paraprofessional, then transferred to special education.  A new Title 1 School had opened in Fayette County and needed experience qualified teachers. I applied for the job and moved to Fayette County Public Schools as a Title 1 teacher. After a couple of years, I began to reflect on my life and wanted to further my career in teaching. Walden University offered a Bachelor of Science Child Development degree program I needed to become a certified teacher.  In 2018 , I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Walden University. In 2020, I conferred a degree  in M.Ed -Master of Education in Elementary Education at Grand Canyon University..

I love teaching and leading because I know I can make a difference in children’s lives.  I have a heart for students.  I care deeply about each student and I want each of them to succeed.  I believe each student can succeed through diligent work, a positive attitude, great teachers, and involved parents.

I believe that I am a highly qualified professional that has facilitated my intense dedication to teaching. Above all, I have implemented excellent in supporting children, their families, and the community.
