SAFETY PATROL
Safety Patrols are a select group of Fifth Graders that are committed to providing a safe school environment for all students at Wesley Lakes Elementary.
A Safety Patrol member should be responsible, respectful, cooperative, and helpful.
These Student Ambassadors patrol the hallways in the morning assisting adults in monitoring the school facilities within the building. In addition, they serve as helpers for staff members, office assistants and assist with visitors that come into the school.
The primary purpose of the program is to enhance the safety of our students. In addition, this promotes the development of leadership skills and good citizenship qualities. A safety patrol’s job is to model for students the safety rules that have been taught in the classroom, to assist students in safe transitions throughout the building,
Duties include:
- Hallway monitoring
- Assisting students as they exit cars during arrival time
- Helping students get to class or designated areas without running
- Assisting/working cooperatively with adults in assigned areas (gym, cafeteria)
- Greeting families as they enter the building each morning
Members of Safety Patrol must remain in good academic standing in all subject areas and model good behavioral choices. Discipline referrals will result in dismissal from safety patrol.
