Who am I?

Hello, Oakland Owls! My name is Tawana Martin. I am the Student Support Facilitator (SSF) for Oakland Elementary. I am originally from Queens, New York, and have been residing in Georgia for 25 years. I am married and have 3 amazing daughters.

What is my role?

This is my 2nd year as an SSF. In my current role, I oversee the implementation of Exceptional Student Education services for our students.

What is my experience as an educator?

This is my 24th year as an Educator. I spent 22 of those years as an Exceptional Student Education Teacher. I am Certified as a Highly Qualified Educator in Early Childhood and Exceptional Student Education. I have taught all grade levels from Kindergarten to 5th grade. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Special Education.

What additional experience do I have?

Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a counselor for adolescents, teens, and adults with psychological, intellectual, and emotional behavior disorders.
