Ms. Renee Jackson
Hello, ARE Jaguars!
The 2022-2023 school year is in the final months!
We are always ready to "Get in the Game of Learning" at Austin Road Elementary! As we all know, reading is a game changer!
Congratulations to the 2022-2023 HRRB Competition Team for taking 3rd Place in the recent competition! We are so proud of our Competition Team of all young men! The 5 member team included Jordan Bee, Kameron Bostic, Jesiah Corbitt, Jaques Funk, and Jonathan Mexquititla Aguilar. They brought home the 3rd Place trophy after a tiebreaker round for 2nd Place.
Take a look at SORA for ebooks to read anytime!
I want to encourage all of our students to read for at least twenty minutes each day. Henry County Schools is focused on reading and writing at every grade level. While summer gave us an opportunity to relax and enjoy the sunshine, we want our students to learn that reading is not only informative but relaxing.
We have ebooks available through SORA (https://soraapp.com/library/henryga), the student reading app, which provides free 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks. Learn more about SORA and its perks for you and our students here: https://meet.soraapp.com/. What better way to engage a student’s mind than through reading?
You can access ebooks and magazines through the SORA app from your Launchpad/Classlink. Here's a link to the magazines.
There are also links to video Read Alouds on the Online Read Alouds tab to the left of this page. There are also ebooks on GetEpic! The app is also on the launchpad. If you would like to use my class code, it is SAE0100.
Attention! 4th and 5th Graders! The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is the ultimate Book Club where you can showcase your love of reading and competition! Reading award-winning books and get ready to join the HRRB Team! Copies of the books for the 2023-2024 competition should be available on SORA and in the media center soon as possible after the titles are announced.
