• Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are going to have a great school year! In order for this to happen, you and I will be working together to ensure this year is a success for your child!

Behavior is very important in the classroom when maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning. I want to take this time to inform you about the behavior system we will be using in the class this year.

We will be using a clip chart to monitor the choices made in our classroom. The clip chart is labeled into sections. Each day, your child will start on, “Ready to Learn". This starting place allows your child to move up or down depending on the choices they make. Consistent good choices will allow them to move up to, while poor choices will cause them to move down. Please note, your child may not move up every day. Moving up is intended for behavior that goes above and beyond what is expected of them. However, we still celebrate the fact that they maintained expectations for the day. This visual behavior chart brings awareness and allows your child to take ownership of his/her actions.  Your child has the opportunity to take responsibility for their behavior and make changes when needed.

Your child will come home with their communication folder. Inside the folder, you will find a behavior sheet stating where  your child ended the day.  I will include comments about behaviors that resulted in lower levels if needed.  Feel free to leave any comments/questions and I will get back to you the following day. I have attached below an explanation of the  levels of our clip chart.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to having a great year! For any questions or concerns, contact me via  REMIND or email at  lisa.riley@henry.k12.ga.us.

    Thank you,
    Ms. Riley

The chart below explains how the clip chart works.

    5

    Super Choices!

Students who consistently make positive character choices will receive recognition as they move up the chart. The goal is to be a Super Student making SUPER CHOICES!

    4

    Good Day!

Students who are going above behavior ecpectations will move up. This is a motivator for students to continue making positive behavior choices.

    3

    Ready to Learn

Everyone starts the day on #3 Ready to Learn!  Students will either move up or move down depending on their behavior choices.

    2

    Think About it

Students who have received a verbal warning/redirect but continue to make poor/negative behavior choices will move to #2.  This will result in a consequence designated by the teacher (5 minute recess think time or in class think time).

    1

    Parent Contact

Students who move to 1 will complete a Reflection Sheet (depending on time of day).  Parents will also be contacted via telephone or email (depending on severity).
