• About Mrs. Harris

This will be my 20th year of teaching exceptional student education here at Hickory Flat.  I was a paraprofessional in a classroom for students with severe and profound intellectual disabilities for a year before I was a teacher.  I have also worked in a preschool setting.  Before I was in the education field, I worked as a foster care social worker at DFCS.
I went to Eagle's Landing High School here in Henry County.  I got my bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Georgia.  I have a master's degree in education with a concentration in multiple and severe disabilities from Georgia State University.  I also have my online teaching endorsement.
I have lived in Georgia all my life.  I have been married for 21 years to my amazing husband.  I have an 12 year old son who is in 7th grade this year at Union Grove MS.  I also have a 16 year old son that attends UGHS.  We have one dog, fish, and chickens.
I love to be constantly going and doing things with friends and family.  Traveling is one of our favorite things.  I also enjoy camping, hiking, outdoor festivals, shopping, reading, attending sporting events, going to concerts and other performances, and spending time with friends and family.
I love working with students!  It is very rewarding to see them overcome challenges and make progress.  There is never a dull moment in our class!
