Henry Voices 2023
We are proud to announce Henry County Schools 2nd Annual “Henry Voices” competition!

In Henry County Schools, we value the voices of our students, today’s young people and tomorrow’s leaders. Henry Voices is an opportunity for all students to make their voices heard!
Henry Voices includes a Speaking Contest and Writing Contest. Students have the opportunity to develop a short speech or a short written submission using the prompts below. Winners at each level (K-5, 6-8, and 9-12) will then be provided the opportunity to make their voices heard by sharing their work at the 2023 State of the Schools Address with Dr. Mary Elizabeth Davis, Superintendent of Henry County Schools.

Each category winner in each grade-band will receive a $300 scholarship.

Henry Voices Speaking Prompts:
Winners will recite their 2 minute talk at the State of Schools Event in April!
Elementary: I believe my school makes me better by…
Middle: I believe my school impacts my experiences as a student by…
High: I believe my school is preparing me for a better future as a community member by….

Video Submission Guidelines
- Student 2-minute “talk” must be submitted via Google form.
- Student “talk” will be considered according to the following:
- Matter
- Manner
- Method/Organization

Henry Voices Writing Prompts:
Elementary: I believe as a leader, I make my school better by…
Middle: I believe as a leader, I can impact the experience of students by…
High: I believe as a leader, I can make my community a better place for all by…

Writing Submission Guidelines:
- Write an essay on the provided prompt.
- All student writing must be typed and submitted via a Google form submission.
If there are special circumstances requiring a hand-written essay, please contact ELA Coordinator,
Michelle Martin michelle.martin@henry.k12.ga.us - Each student writing must be an original composition completed by an individual student.
- Student writing will be considered according to the following:
- Expression of Ideas
- Language Use
- Unique Perspective and Voice - The maximum number of words is 1,000.
Each category winner in each grade-band will receive a $300 scholarship.
