• Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to my Third Grade Class! I am so excited to be chosen as one of the newest members of the third grade team. This year is going to be full of learning, fun experiences and tons of growth. We will work together as a team to ensure that learning takes place in our classroom.

I would like to take some time to formally introduce myself. My name is Taneika Miliam and this year is my first year teaching at Walnut Creek Elementary School. I come from Locust Grove Elementary, where I taught first and second grade. I am a Georgia Baby for sure, born and raised. I moved to McDonough in 2018 and loved it so much and didn't want to leave, but life obstacles and hurdles caused me to move. I now live in Stockbridge. I have three children; one daughter-in-law, Martavious,  who is 23, Alaizha, who is 19 and a recent graduating senior in Clayton County Schools. A'Naya, who is 17 and is a senior in Clayton County Schools as well , and Mel'Onie who is 21.  I also have one grandson, Markel, who is 4. And a new granddaughter, Majesty who is 6 months old. And I am also a dog mom of three, a 6 year old-boxer named Apollo, a 12 year old miniature poodle named Missy, and a 4 year old miniature schnauzer named Sky.

I have a total of 24 years of experience in the Early Childhood field. I have worked with children of all ages. I previously worked at Atlanta Public Schools and Fulton County Schools for a total of nine years. I am a recent graduate from Mercer University with my Bachelor's Degree in Education and currently pursuing my Masters of Art in Teaching. In my spare time, I enjoy watching teaching videos, DIY Projects, and cooking videos and making planners.

During the school year, I plan to work hard ensuring that your child is successful in learning. I highly encourage you to be an active part of your child's education.  You are a key factor in the child's learning experiences. Therefore, I will keep you updated on every aspect of our school year. I will be contacting you through email, your child's Interactive Binder, Friday Folder, Google Classroom, Google Meet , Class Dojo and phone calls. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me. You can also contact me by email taneika.miliam@henry.k12.ga.us  or 762-235-5709.

I look forward to working with you and your child !!!

    Sincerely,

    Taneika S. Miliam
